Women (album)
Women is the debut album by Calgary band Women, recorded by fellow Calgary-native Chad VanGaalen.[1][2] It was released in 2008 on VanGaalen's Flemish Eye record label in Canada, and on Jagjaguwar in the US.
Recording
Women was recorded by Polaris Music Prize-nominated Chad VanGaalen, in "[VanGaalen's] basement, an outdoor culvert and a crawlspace."[3] It was recorded using boom boxes and tape machines, contributing to its lo-fi sound.[3]
Reception
Women was released to favourable reviews, with Cokemachineglow naming it as "the best 'indie rock' record released [in 2008,] hands down."[7]
